Aussie Pavarotti performs in Guangzhou Roger Davy, Managing Director of Vavachi Entertainment and opera singer from Queensland, gave his inaugural performance in China, with support from Austrade Guangzhou and Redland City Council Guangzhou Office. It was a surprise so many Chinese people are fond of opera, said Roger. I will start learning Chinese so I can sing opera songs in Chinese next time. Roger, who has performed in Europe and America, sang with Chinese opera singer, Ms Ou Haiou from Guangzhou Xinghai Music Conservatory.

Their repertoire included Brindisi from La Traviata, Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera, Nessun Dorma from Turnadot, and I Still Call Australia Home. Roger then performed his ‘Experience Pavarotti’ show in which he dressed as Pavarotti and sang some of the legendary singer’s favourite arias. After the show, the head of Guangdong Lingnan Troupe hosted a banquet for Roger and extended an invitation for a joint performance in Guangzhou.
